“Help. I don’t know where to go vote today.”
Yesterday afternoon, I got this text from my neighbor Karen. She had walked to a nearby church where we voted together during the Texas primary and runoff elections; however, the door was locked. It wan’t an early voting location for the 2026 midterm election.
As a know civics nerd in my neighborhood, I often get questions like Karen’s when people run into an issue. As a trusted leader in your community, I bet you do too. So, here is a simple answer you can share to the question “Where do I vote in Texas?”
Option 1: Check the Texas Secretary of State Voter portal
- Visit the My Voter Portal
- Enter needed info, including your name, birthday, and either your driver’s license; county and zip code; or voter ID
- Click on the “Early Voting Locations” tab

- Choose the election phase in the dropdown box. Then, a list of early voting polling locations and hours will appear.
- Pro Tip: Pick the time and location that works for you and then immediately put it on your calendar. That helps avoid scheduling conflicts!
Option 2: Visit your county’s election website
While the Texas Secretary of State’s website has all the listings, you can often get more details by visiting your county’s election website directly. In several Texas counties, there are interactive maps, real-time line wait-times and more.
For example, here is the Travis County map with how long you can expect to wait in line. Pro Tip: Use our directory tool to easily find your county election office.
